Ty Cade is this month’s featured athlete. Check out his story below!
How long have you been a CrossFitter?
Just hit three months. It’s been going great and I can’t wait to see where I’m at in another 3.
Why do you Crossfit?
I’ve never left a big-box gym with the sense of accomplishment I get every time I leave CrossFit South Cobb. Every day here is a new challenge, and I’ve learned to find pleasure through the pain!
What’s your favorite thing about Crossfit?
I’m constantly encouraged and inspired by the other members. Whether it’s the elite athletes or other beginners like me, we all live vicariously through each other at the gym and want everyone to succeed.
How has Crossfit impacted your life?
CrossFit has been a real kick in the tail for me to improve my overall lifestyle. Besides dropping LB’s, it’s taught me that you can still teach an old dog new tricks.
What’s your favorite lift/workout?
Of all things, I’m a fan of the Zercher walk – who knew I’d be good at awkwardly holding a lot weight and walking! I’m also a fan of ‘Cindy’ because it’s great to work on the basics/fundamentals.
What’s your least favorite lift/workout?
Burpees, of course. Kettlebells are also my kryptonite.
What advice would you give to the new CrossFitter?
Invest in Ben Gay. Also, never quit on a workout. It doesn’t matter it a WOD takes you two days, just get through it.
Tell us something not Crossfit-related that we don’t know about you
Ty is my full first name – it’s not short for anything. I have one blond eyelash. If I had three wishes, one of them would be to never have to do laundry ever again.
